As the year draws to a close, it's nice to pause for a moment and reflect on the events of the past year. As Finns are known to be a karaoke nation, it is particularly interesting to look at this year through the eyes of karaoke. What songs did Finns sing at karaoke in 2025? Has this year’s music-industry activity influenced the world of karaoke? That becomes clear from Feelment’s karaoke statistics.
By the beginning of December 2025, Feelment's karaoke servers had been engaged by more than 3 935 000 singing sessions this year. Although this year has not yet come to an end, we can already tell: the number of karaoke performances in 2025 will exceed 4 million!
Of the songs sung , 75% have been in Finnish and around 23% in English. There has been only a few percent for other languages. If we compare the statistics to 2024, we see that the percentages have remained the same. So Finns' love of Finnish songs has remained unchanged! 💙
Among songs in languages other than Finnish or English, Swedish, Spanish and Italian have been the most popular. German and French songs have also been well received this year. By the way, did you know that Feelment also has karaoke songs in Hindi? They have been sung over 200 times this year.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." - and all the classics! And once again, familiar favorites from previous years ruled the list. The number one spot was taken by Dingo’s Levoton Tuhkimo, which has now held the top position for three years in a row.
However, when we compare this year's TOP 10 with 2024, we can see some slight changes. Ukkometso and Viidestoista yö have dropped out of the top 10, making way for Shanghain Valot and Ihmisten Edessä.
The popularity of Shanghain Valot comes as no surprise – even if no one will admit it, we all went a little crazy on February 8, 2025, when the song was performed in the UMK final by Annika Eklund together with Laura Voutilainen, Eini, Bess, Keira and Linda Lampenius. In August we got to enjoy the song once again in Ultra Bra's version, as the song was performed when Ultra Bra took the stage at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.
Erika Vikman's Ich Komme was added to Feelment's karaoke selection on February 24. On the list of most-performed songs, it reached position 97 — sung more than 5,000 times. KAJ’s Bara Bada Bastu was added a bit later, on March 11. Despite the challenging Vöyri dialect, it has been performed over 4,500 times and landed at number 120. Both Erika Vikman and KAJ can be proud of their results — after all, as the TOP 10 shows, the karaoke crowd tends to warm up to new songs a little slowly.
An artist’s popularity in karaoke is often tied to how many of their songs are available in the selection. The more tracks there are to choose from, the more performances tend to accumulate — which is why the TOP list of most sung artists/bands is typically dominated by long-running legends, and this year is no exception.
There haven’t been any major shifts compared to previous years: Kari Tapio’s popularity remains strong, and his legacy lives on. Unlike in 2024, Katri Helena made it into the TOP 10 this year, taking the spot previously held by Popeda at number nine. A beautifully fitting tribute from us Finns to our beloved national treasure, Katri Helena, who concluded her career this year.
In previous years, we’ve put together TOP 10 lists of the most performed songs during holidays. This time we decided to approach things a bit differently — for a simple reason: holidays barely influence Finns’ karaoke choices. Whether it’s May Day, Midsummer or Christmas, Tuhkimo has stayed restlessly at the top. 😀
Of course, holidays, seasons and different events do leave a small mark on what’s sung — you can see this, for example, in the Eurovision Week stats. Lapin Kesä gets a little boost during the summer season, and on Independence Day the karaoke mics bring out songs like Olen Suomalainen and Finlandia-Hymni. But when it comes to evergreen favorites, holidays don’t seem to make much difference, and honestly, no surprise there! Why switch up your trusted karaoke showpiece?
All in all, we followed a familiar pattern this year — and that’s a pretty great place to step forward into 2026. Most importantly, the karaoke scene shows no signs of slowing down. The growth continues — and we’re more than ready for it. 😎
